DORKBOT EINDHOVEN IS BACK!!! DorkbotEindhoven #3 September 21st, 20.30 at the Gaslab TU/eindhoven http://dorkbot.org/dorkboteindhoven / dorkboteindhoven@xxxxxxxxxxx subscribe to our list: http://music.columbia.edu/mailman/listinfo/dorkboteindhoven-announce PRESENTATIONS/PERFORMANCES ***Christoph Bartneck / TelMeA Theatre Christoph Bartneck works as part of the Department of Industrial Design at the TU/eindhoven. He will be presenting his project TelMeA Theatre. In cooperation with the ATR Media Information Science Lab in Japan Christoph has developed the TelMeA Theatre, an asynchronous online community site where you can talk with other participants through your own avatars. Not only can you use gestures and facial expressions to communicate, but also the character agents will speak and interact with each other. ***Wilfried Hou Je Bek / http://www.socialfiction.org / http://www.socialfiction.org/crystalpunk Wilfried Hou Je Bek left school at 16 to become an astronaut but this turned out to be bad careermove and he founded socialfiction.org instead. Socialfiction.org is a website (obviously) as well as the organising party behind generative psychogeographical walks, events and presentations. Right now socialfiction.org is busy running The Crystalpunk Workshop for Soft Architecture. This workshop, which principles will be presented during dorkbot, will evolve in a period of 3 months an empty room from nothingness into unknown states of technological enhancement. It has an open door policy and everybody is welcomed to participate in it. ***Enrike Hurtado Mendieta & Thor Magnusson / IXI software / http://www.ixi-software.net Enrike Hurtado Mendieta and Thor Magnusson are musicians and programmers who founded ixi software in year 2000. Ixi software is a collective of people interested in the creation of musical instruments. The focus is on screen based graphical user interfaces for open source audio programming languages. Both physical and virtual interfaces are of interest and on the website there are 15+ applications that can be downloaded for free. Ixi will talk about the philosophy behind their work, show some of the instruments, explain the history of ixi and then discuss technical or philosophical aspects, all according to what the audience is most interested in discussing. ***Alexander Rulkens Alexander Rulkens is a 4th year student in Industrial Design at the TU/eindhoven. He is constantly searching for answers to questions like: what is the purpose of design? why do humans have the urge to design the world around them? why are there so many bad designs? what makes something a good design anyway? The project he will be presenting is a luminaire built to allow a user to play with light. Each movement directly influences the light. Pull it, push it, stretch it, launch it, create the light you want. *Dorkbot Eindhoven is an initiative of Art & Technology Festival STRP in collaboration with Studium Generale (TU/e). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * DorkbotEindhoven #3: Christoph Bartneck, Wilfried Hou Je Bek, IXI software, Alexander Rulkens WEDNESDAY, 21 SEPTEMBER @ 20.30 GASLAB, TU/eindhoven, Netherlands (for map: http://www.tue.nl/tue-algemeen/index_route.htm) * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Feel Free to spread this announcement on other mailing lists and to anyone else you think might be interested! ........................................................................ .........dorkbot: people doing strange things with electricity.......... ..........................http://dorkbot.org............................ ........................................................................
