Hope you don't mind getting and possibly passing on information on some events for April 14 and 15, 2004 in Brussels. It would be interesting to spread it in non-free software circles as well (computer professional organisations, labour unions, consumer groups, academia, software businesses and software using businesses, digital rights groups, etc.). In a nutshell: Brussels April 14 2004 : protests and conference on the software patents directive. The Council of ministers of the EU is apparently going to throw away the work done in the European Parliament and propose allowing patenting of software without any effective limit. FFII's press release is at: http://plone.ffii.org/events/2004/bxl04/pr/ Brussels April 15 2004 : conference on digital rights and promotion of free software inside the European Parliament, but see the note below Brussels April 14 and 15 2004 : it seems a virtual demonstration is in the works (that is you are invited to replace your home page with a a protest note or so, like last summer). If you have time to spend I bet the organisers will also wellcome help in setting things up. ----- Forwarded message from Hartmut Pilch <phm@xxxxxx> ----- X-Spam-Status: No, hits=0.0 required=5.0 From: Hartmut Pilch <phm@xxxxxx> X-X-Sender: phm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To: news@xxxxxxxx Subject: [ffii] 14-15 April 2004 : Brussels is the Hub to go :-) X-BeenThere: news@xxxxxxxx X-Mailman-Version: 2.0.local1 List-Help: <mailto:news-request@xxxxxxxx?subject=help> List-Post: <mailto:news@xxxxxxxx> List-Subscribe: <http://lists.ffii.org/mailman/listinfo/news>, <mailto:news-request@xxxxxxxx?subject=subscribe> List-Id: FFII News <news.ffii.org> List-Unsubscribe: <http://lists.ffii.org/mailman/listinfo/news>, <mailto:news-request@xxxxxxxx?subject=unsubscribe> List-Archive: <http://lists.ffii.org/archive/mails/news/> Date: Fri, 19 Mar 2004 18:25:39 +0100 (CET) FFII News -- For Immediate Release -- Please Redistribute +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ +++ Invitation by Greens/EFA to Apr 14-15 events. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: Fri, 19 Mar 2004 16:30:44 +0100 From: Laurence Vandewalle Subject: 14-15 April 2004 : Brussels is the Hub to go :-) *** THANKS FOR HELPING TO WIDESPREAD THIS EMAIL*** Conferences and LUG in Brussels European Parliament room ASP 1G2 ________________________________________________________________ Most legal frame related to new technologies is cooked up at Brussels.
