Hi, Wessel Dankers will give a presentation about LogReport's Lire, at my place (Strijpsestraat 48 A), on monday november 11th, 21:00. The talk will be repeated at the XML Holland 2002 conference, 13 november in Rotterdam ( http://www.sgml-ug.nl/HTML/frame_congres/congres2002/02workshop.htm ). The talk will be about both Lire and LogReport, the project which created Lire. Part of the talk will be technical, part will be interesting also for non-technical people. LogReport ( http://www.logreport.org/ ) is a non-profit organization that was initially started as a group of volunteers. The organization got a legal status as Stichting LogReport Foundation, and funding by the NLnet Foundation ( http://www.nlnet.nl/), in August 2000. Currently, LogReport employs three software developers, all on a part-time basis. LogReport's flagship product is Lire. Lire is a software package to automatically generate useful reports from raw log files of various network programs. No less than 35 log file types are currently supported for various types of network services, ranging from firewall packet filters to print spoolers. Reports can be typesetted in 11 different output formats: plain ascii, Docbook XML, XHTML and Excel95, etc. Of course, Lire internally uses XML extensively to enable this flexibility. Lire is written in Perl and shell code and released under the GNU GPL. Commercial support is available too: check out http://www.logreport.com/. Please let me know if you plan to visit monday's presentation. ------------- Wessel Dankers zal op maandag 11 november een presentatie geven over LogReport's Lire, bij mij thuis, Strijpsestraat 48 A. Als je wilt komen, laat dat dan even weten. Groeten, Joost
