Hoi, Op 19 oktober is het weer de 3e maandag van de maand: Enosig-dag. We kunnen dan de 40ste verjaardag van het internet ( 2 september 1969 - http://tech.slashdot.org/story/09/09/02/2223247/Happy-Birthday-Internet ), de 15de verjaardag van Apache ( 4 november 1994 - http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/www-announce/200909.mbox/%3c432159.53322.qm@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx%3e) en de 10e verjaardag van GnuPG ( September 7, 1999 http://marc.info/?l=gnupg-devel&m=119815015825219 ) vieren. (De verjaardagen van augustus 1969 - unix, 8 juni 1994 - PHP ( http://groups.google.com/group/comp.infosystems.www.authoring.cgi/browse_frm/thread/3f2276e6067acfb0), 1979 - sendmail (arpanet-delivermail v/h), 1984 - GNU hebben we gemist. (Met dank aan Matto Fransen die deze verjaardagen noemde in zijn column in Linux Magazine.) De bijeenkomst zal maandag 19 oktober vanaf 19:30 in Burgers, Hertogstraat 2, Eindhoven, plaatsvinden. Dat is ongeveer een kwartiertje lopen vanaf Eindhoven CS. Ik geloof trouwens dat er ook een bus stopt. De Hertogstraat kruist de Geldropse Weg. Bij Woon/werk-pand Burgers (http://www.hertogstaat.nl/) moet je de deur hebben die met een grote ijzeren pijl gemarkeerd is. Als je voor de eerste keer komt, niet aan de bar vragen naar de "Enosig meeting" want dan weten ze echt niet wat dat is. Vraag naar "de computerjongens", dan komt het wel goed :) Op deze bijeenkomst wil ik (tenzij Jochem me voor is met zijn verhaal over Mercurial (hg) :) graag een praatje houden over mailman-pgp-smime, een project dat ondersteuning voor OpenPGP en S/MIME aan GNU Mailman wil toevoegen. Hier de officiele blurb over de presentatie: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Secure List Server, mailman-pgp-smime, is an effort to add support for encryption and authentication to Mailman, the GNU mailing list software. This enhancement enables groups of people to safely cooperate and communicate using email. The patch includes support for both RFC 2633 (S/MIME) and RFC 2440 (OpenPGP) email messages. Work on this software was started by Stefan Schlott, in 2005 (or earlier). Development of the patch currently is made possible by the NLnet foundation. A post to a secure list will be distributed only if the PGP (or S/MIME) signature on the post is from one of the list members. For sending encrypted email, a list member encrypts to the public key of the list. The post will be decrypted and re-encrypted to the public keys of all list members. The software is GPLv2 licensed. About the talk -------------- The talk will start with a very short overview of the history of Mailman and the mailman-pgp-smime project. Some remarks will be made on how to install and configure the software, so that one can try it. Currently supported features will be mentioned, as well as an overview of development plans. One will learn how to contribute to the project; an overview of the revision control system used (bzr) will be given. Some remarks on the future of the patch will be made: will it be shipped with Mailman itself?
